As a school, we model Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) to our students in the way we relate with each other, participate in engaging activities and also ensure that we create learning experiences that build trust and enhance positive relationships.

Social and emotional learning (SEL) is an essential part of a child's development. It helps children understand and manage their emotions, build healthy relationships, and make responsible decisions. Parents can play a crucial role in guiding their children in social and emotional learning.
Here are some ways parents can do that:
Model positive behaviour: Parents should model positive behaviour and emotions, such as empathy, kindness, and self-control, to help their children learn how to manage their own emotions and develop healthy relationships.
Encourage self-awareness: Parents can help their children develop self-awareness by asking them to identify their emotions and talk about them. Parents can also encourage their children to express their feelings healthily and constructively.
Practice active listening: Parents should practice active listening when their children talk about their feelings or experiences. This will help children feel heard and valued, and it will also help parents understand their child's perspective.
Foster positive relationships: Parents should encourage their children to build positive relationships with their peers and family members. This can be done by modelling healthy communication and conflict resolution skills, and by providing opportunities for their children to socialize with others.
Teach problem-solving skills: Parents can help their children develop problem-solving skills by teaching them how to identify problems, brainstorm solutions, and evaluate the outcomes of different choices.
Create a positive and supportive home environment: Parents should create a positive and supportive home environment that encourages their children to take risks, make mistakes, and learn from them. This can be done by providing praise and positive feedback, setting realistic expectations, and offering guidance and support when needed.
Encourage self-care: Parents should encourage their children to take care of themselves, both physically and emotionally. This can be done by teaching them healthy habits, such as getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet, engaging in physical activity, and encouraging them to take breaks and engage in activities that they enjoy.
